Made for Medicare Brokers by a Medicare Broker

The complete marketing system I built for my own Medicare business, now working for yours.

Sound Familiar?

I was there, too.

  • $3,000+ a month for marketing

Big marketing corporations charge thousands for mail, texts and email. Most new agents can't afford it.

  • Empty seats, wrong audience

You know you can help people. The hard part is getting in front of the right ones.

  • A book that's slow to grow

It's hard to grow a book when marketing costs feel out of reach.

Brayene Benner
"In 2021, I was a brand-new agent: broke, determined, and priced out by big marketing corporations. So, I figured it out myself. My Medicare team saw what I was doing and asked me to run their marketing, too. That's how Big Dog Marketing started."

Brayene Benner | Founder of Big Dog Marketing, Licensed Health Insurance and Medicare Broker

Brayene Benner, founder of Big Dog Marketing

Brayene started this company because she was exactly where so many new agents are today: Just starting out, ultimately broke, but determined. When she entered the insurance industry in 2021, she quickly felt the strain of big marketing corporations that were charging thousands of dollars for direct mail, texting, and email campaigns that she simply couldn’t afford. It made sense for seasoned brokers with 30 years of experience who could comfortably spend $3,000+ per month on marketing, but for agents just getting started, those costs were simply unrealistic.

Brayene has a Marketing degree with a minor in Sales, a Division II collegiate basketball background that taught her how to hustle, and an innovative mind that refused to accept that spending that kind of money was the only way to make more back. So, she decided to figure it out herself.

Over the last 5 years, Brayene has tested, refined, and optimized every part of the direct mail process from list targeting and suppression to design, mailing, and follow-up automation. She figured out how to make high-quality, compliant mailers significantly more cost-effective without sacrificing results, which spoke for themselves. Her FMO and Medicare team saw what she was doing and asked her to handle their marketing, too. Word spread fast, especially because she is always out in the community networking and meeting other entrepreneurs and business owners. Before long, other professionals were reaching out, asking if she could run the same high performing campaigns for them, saving them thousands a month. What started as a side solution for a broke new agent turned into Big Dog Marketing.

Today, Big Dog Marketing exists for one reason: To give others the same powerful, targeted marketing tools the big corporations offer, but at a price that doesn’t make a new agent or business feel defeated.

We don’t just send mailers and texts. We understand the ins and outs of Medicare and health insurance, entrepreneurship, and the importance of lead relationship from the inside out because we live it every day. As our team has grown, so has our knowledge base, and what we can offer ranging from Medicare to law firms to real estate and so on. As a team, we combine real world industry knowledge with smart, data driven strategy to make sure every campaign reaches the right consumers - the ones who are ready and actually need the help you provide.

Whether you are a brand new agent just getting started or an established broker looking to scale, Brayene has been in your shoes. We’ve taken everything she learned in the trenches and turned it into a complete, modern system that works across multiple markets and industries. She knows how hard it is to grow a book when marketing costs feel out of reach. She wants to level the playing field and help good agents get in front of the right people without breaking the bank.

Let’s grow your business together.

The prospects you're looking for are out there. Let's make sure they find you.

FOR AGENTS

Medicare marketing rules for seminar mail, in plain language

The basics we keep in mind when we design your invitations. Tap a rule to read it.

Mail is an allowed way to reach people

CMS rules allow unsolicited contact by mail and other print media. Unsolicited door-to-door visits, approaching people in parking lots or lobbies, social media direct messages, cold calls, robocalls, texts and voicemails are not allowed. Calling people back after they call you or send in a reply card is fine.

Say what kind of event it is

An educational event has to be advertised as educational and can only cover Medicare in general: no plan-specific marketing, sales presentations or applications. A marketing or sales event can present plans and take applications. If a sales event follows an educational one, attendees must be told and given a chance to leave first.

Add the accommodations line

Every ad or invitation for a seminar or event must say that accommodations for people with special needs are available, with a phone number and a TTY number.

Use the TPMO disclaimer if it applies

If you sell plans for more than one Medicare Advantage organization, your materials need the standard third-party marketing organization disclaimer (“We do not offer every plan available in your area…”) with your own numbers filled in.

No required sign-ins at the event

At sales events you cannot require a sign-in sheet or contact details to attend, and raffle entries can only be used for the raffle.

Scope of Appointment before one-on-one meetings

Before a personal marketing appointment, agree on and record a Scope of Appointment (in writing for in-person meetings). You can only discuss the products the beneficiary agreed to, and not unrelated products like annuities.

Agents are responsible for their own compliance, and carriers may have stricter rules or require material review. This is a general summary, not legal advice.
